Can you imagine being so famous that your every move is captured on film by a dedicated photographer? That’s been the reality for every President and First Lady since John F. Kennedy left the White House. Michelle’s husband had Pete Souza following his every move during his tenure in the White House and his wife had Amanda Lucidon’s lens following her every move between 2013 and 2017.
The photographer has now released the best pics in her New York Times Best Seller Chasing Light which contains over 200 pages detailing the former First Lady’s time. It also includes personal accounts from Lucidon’s time shadowing Michelle. You’ll need to purchase the book to see all the pictures but we can show you those that she’s released into the public domain along with some of the best anecdotes from Lucidon’s time with the Obamas.
This photo is one of the most famous of the collection but it almost didn’t make the cut as Lucidon explained in her book: “this shot felt more like an 'almost' for me because it was so cluttered,” but luckily for us all “Al Anderson, our wonderful White House photo editor, convinced me that it was great despite its composition.”
