She was never supposed to be Queen
The Queen, who’s officially known as Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith, is a complicated creature. She’s been Queen for longer than most of us have been alive. She must know a thing or two that she’s not letting on about her history and her family. Let’s lift the lid and see what’s inside.
To begin with, let’s remember that she was never supposed to be Queen. If her uncle Edward had not abdicated the throne in order to marry Wallis Simpson, her father would not have been crowned George VI and she would not have inherited the throne upon his death. When her father was crowned King she was an 11 year old so she spent the first decade of her life believing there was no hope for her to become monarch.
