The famous Turkish Doner Kebab has taken over many parts of the world by storm. Traditionally this meal consisted of freshly sliced pieces of roasted lamb and spices served with rice and salad on a plate. But Mahmut Aygun had other plans for the kebab. Born in Turkey, Aygun moved to Berlin at the age of 16 and created a meal that would appeal to migrant workers who were on the go. Rather than have to worry about serving it on a plate and making it a sit down meal, Aygun decided to stuff it all in pita bread that the workers could take away with them which was the birth of the Doner Kebab.
But over time and through research, the food that started out as being the way to go has turned into something that maybe we should actually be avoiding.
