It is the go to sauce if something needs a bit of flavor and actually has origins that date back to China where it was originally made using none other than fermented fish. Any Italian who is reading this might want to turn away now. Some people have claimed that ketchup can be used in spaghetti bolognese. Usually the sauce is a mixture of beef, carrots, onions, garlic and red wine and simmered, but some people have added a bit of ketchup right before it starts to simmer as it adds a bit of zest according to them.
