What do those names mean?
Why don’t Ikea just give their stuff numbers? What’s all this nonsense about the names of their products? Well if you can’t read Swedish the names given to their products will be little more than random letters on the box. Let’s assume that you’re more than happy to negotiate the labyrinth that makes up your average Ikea store and you’re browsing one of the many items wrapped in a white cardboard box wondering why they have names rather than numbers, well you’ve got founder Ingvar Kamprad to blame for that. Or rather his dyslexia. He was so confused assigning a simple number system to his furniture that the idea of naming each item was born.
