National Dollar Day
People don’t tend to give much thought to the $1 bill because of its small value but there are lots of interesting facts surrounding the note. Yeah, really, bear with us, this isn’t going to be as boring as asking a collector to tell you all about his coin collect, trust us on that. For example, did you realise that the US monetary system has only been in place since 1786? That’s really not long at all, is it? On August 8, 1786, the Continental Congress established the U.S. monetary system that’s still in place today. That milestone is marked each year but National Dollar Day is unofficial so there aren’t that many people who take notice.
You don’t get much for a buck nowadays but the dollar bill is a complicated bit of legal tender
