It’s fair to say that sometimes Prince Charles should keep his mouth shut, isn’t it? Like his father, he’s said a few things over the years that are embarrassing for his family and himself but he’s also been on the money about architecture and other subjects so he’s worth listening to from time to time. But don’t ask him about windfarms. The wind turbines that Charles called “horrendous blots on the landscape” and “absolutely useless” generate a lot of profit for the property portfolio. There are 30 windfarms in the Crown Estate that combined to generate £27.7 million, that’s more than 8% of the overall profits.
