A car’s not just for TV
Reality TV shows feel genuine because the hosts are people who do a regular job like you and I. That makes the show seem pretty authentic but the conversations and the reactions are often scripted. TV firms can’t afford to film hours and hours of footage in the hope that something funny happens, so they make it happen. Between 2004 and 2007 that’s exactly what MTV's Pimp My Ride did.
Alvin Nathaniel Joiner, aka Xzibit, would turn up at a contestant’s house, pick up a beaten up old car and then take it back to the shop where a banger was turned into a pimped up ride with massive sound-systems, big rims and loads of bling. But not everything that glitters is gold.
