Robert Downey Jr. and Terrence Howard
Jealousy is normally at the root of any attempt to sabotage another person’s life, and pushing people down by attacking their career is perhaps the most cowardly way it can be done. Whether you’re talking about some girl or guy in the office who’s playing games to make themselves look great in the eyes of the boss (we all know one of those people) or someone who’s sneaking around in an attempt to undermine a rival, a sabotage attempt is petty and unnecessary. But that’s not how these celebs saw it when they began to engage in these sorts of sill games.
The world of movies and TV is cutthroat because there are so many actors and actresses who could do a similar job with a role so making a break as an artist can be really tough but the rivalry can heat up when the stars are established as Robert Downey Jr. can attest to. Terrence Howard, who you might remember starred opposite Downey in the first Iron Man movie, claims that his co-star “took the money that was supposed to go to me and pushed me out”. In a 2013 interview on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Howard claimed that he signed a three-picture deal, which tallies with the sorts of deals on offer to early MCU actors but execs at Marvel said “we think the second [Iron Man] will be successful with or without you” so they wanted to renegotiate. We’re still not sure why that would be Downey Jr’s fault.
