Wasabi isn’t ketchup
We all know that sushi’s raw fish which is eaten with rice and soy sauce but there are loads of things the average Brit doesn’t really know about these dishes. Through ignorance, most of us make the same mistakes whenever this Japanese delicacy is on the menu. For example, do you leave your chopsticks on the side of the bowl? Do you place them directly on the table? Both of these mistakes are wrong if you want to observe the real etiquette of eating Sushi but there are other things that we all do that the Japanese never do.
For example, the Japanese would never put wasabi in their soy sauce. Wasabi should be used in moderation to create the perfect flavour for each piece of fish. It shouldn’t be used like mustard or ketchup! The overwhelming kick it gives isn’t akin to spices in an Indian curry, the kick is harsher than that. If you overload the food with Wasabi, your taste buds won’t experience all the flavours.
